9th Installment of our Self-Coaching Process
Blueprint for real transformation and success for individual employees/executives, teams and organizations
STEP 5: PERCEPTION & PERSPECTIVE, THE SIXTH & SEVENTH P’S
I have taken a little over two weeks off blogging, one week was to hang out with friends in Penang, which was a lovely break around New Year’s. The last 10 days or so were busy preparing for the upcoming launch of our new program, The New You™ (Embodying True Power & Joy, & A Powerful New Way of Living!). We’ll start running talks and workshops in Singapore from Jan 18th onwards.
Meanwhile, back to our Self-Coaching Process, P to the Power of Infinity™ and the sixth and seventh P’s, Perception and Perspective, which are pretty much linked to each other.
Perception is the process of attaining awareness or understanding of sensory information. It refers to the receiving and interpretation of information. The interplays between our past experiences, including our culture, affect our perception.
Therefore, if we are perceiving something negatively or positively, it is because of the way we are interpreting certain information – about a person, situation or a great many other things. And the way we are interpreting the information has to do with the various influences and experiences we’ve had in the past and how we are feeling at that point of perception.
If our perception does not produce the desired results for us, then, it stands to reason that it would be useful for us to shift our perception. This is what is called reframing. You can develop the skill of shifting your perspective or perception to benefit you.
You don’t have to react but to respond in a balanced and evolved way instead. You can pause, take a deep breath and step back to take a more holistic view of whatever is happening. It means that you have a much wider view of the situation, person or persons.
When you return to your centre, your inner power and you perceive from that perspective, you see things differently. You take into account many more things and in a wise and practical way: you use your intuition, your Whole Mind to make choices and decisions, and take action from there. Without doubt, your behaviour and solutions would be much more powerful and capable of producing the desired results for yourself, your team/organization and others involved.
As you read this, you may be thinking that everybody knows this. It’s true; many of us know lots of things but the problem is that, more often than not, we don’t put into practice what we know. It is merely an intellectual knowledge and not information that we embody, that has become a habit and therefore an embodiment of who we are! Hence, I find myself often pointing out things that bear repeating and, in fact, benefit from it myself (because I’m reminding myself too).
Continuing with Step 5: To reframe, you simply have to be calm and relaxed enough to put a positive spin to the situation or set of circumstances you find yourself or selves in. If you are confused, feeling lost and lacking clarity and cannot reframe, you can speak to someone you trust and who is capable of objectively and wisely supporting you, someone such as your coach. If not, there are techniques that can help you.
In our programs, we coach our clients on how to quieten their minds so that they can hear themselves or their inner wisdom, so that their creative mind would take over their reactive mind, and they regain their power that may have been temporarily affected by what transpired.
We share with them a very valuable tool that also effectively cuts away all negative programming that is relevant to the situation and show them how they can move forward in a positive and productive way. Using this tool consistently helps people to develop their intuition and imagination, such that they are constantly inspired and thinking outside the box easily and effortlessly. It leads to astounding success!
What makes a real difference to people’s lives does not have to be rocket science. In fact, to quote Einstein once again, “When the solution is simple, God is answering.” This is the case whether you are pro-Science, a believer in the existence of God or not. You can simply be a believer in good old common sense, which is not that commonly utilized. It’s about developing new habits, new ways of doing things to get the results you want. If you keep doing the same thing and expect to get different results, you know that’s considered insanity, right? (:
It’s time for all of us, the entire human race to use our Higher Intelligence, which is present in every cell within us!
