7th Installment of our Self-Coaching Process
Blueprint for real transformation and success for individual employees/executives, teams and organizations
STEP 3: POWER & PASSION, THE SECOND & THIRD P’S
Continuing from last week’s post… Having a strong purpose will automatically lend you and/or your team/organization enormous power and passion. They too are gifts of the spirit, waiting to be released and harnessed. And, in turn, they will propel you and/or your team/organization towards great success and prosperity or profit.
This power is what I call true power, which is power over our own fears and ego, and not power over others (the outmoded “command and control” type of leadership which is a form of enslavement or weakness dressed up as strength).
True power gives us the energy and courage to move forward without hesitation, the clarity to make wise decisions and choices. It gives us the confidence to look within ourselves and our organizations, to expand on our strengths while being honest enough to look at what’s not working and improve what needs to be improved.
It is a power over your present and future, and that of your team/organization. It means that you have the ability to create exactly what you have in mind. And you are using your Whole Mind (not just the whole brain) to do so. This personal power will bring you independence and freedom, and it is to be cultivated through attitude and projection. It means that you become whatever you believe in.
Imagine yourself being able to do this and to help your whole team or entire organization to do so as well. You will be able to create an unstoppable group that works in harmony with each other, and that can be an example to other organizations and groups of people, showing them what’s possible.
You can, in fact practise creating A World of Endless Possibilities, as mentioned earlier, for yourself personally, for your team/organizations and the larger community.
In physics, the four forces in the universe are those engaged in holding matter together: gravity, strong nuclear force, weak nuclear force and electromagnetism.
According to Lao Tzu, the 6th century BC Chinese philosopher who has been referred to as being “perhaps the world’s first theoretical physicist”, leaders who imitate these forces by connecting individuals and evolving society are given the power to alter reality.
He talks about returning to Infancy, Limitlessness and Simplicity, thereby uniting the Great System, the system that created and holds our universe together!
It simply means returning to the inherent power and wisdom that lies within us.
This is the work that we do and the basis of our coaching organization, our coaching programs and services, and what drives me.
My purpose, which is a tremendous driving force for me, is to help people – both individuals and teams/organizations – connect with, tap into and fully use this power that already exists within all of us, and to make absolute use of it for their own benefit and for the world we live in.
Inevitably, passion arises from being in alignment with this power. It is one of the qualities that evolved and visionary leaders must have. But all that needs to be said here is that it must stem from this innate power, this force for good!
It cannot, for example, be a passion to dominate others (as was exemplified by Hitler who wanted not only to dominate or subordinate but to eradicate). All individuals need to have a sense of power. Otherwise, they would become resentful and uncooperative. When you are truly powerful yourself, you would want all members of your team or organization to also be in their own power. This way, they will be able to contribute much more to the group.
Evolved leadership is not simply about being good, it is the smartest, most practical, most powerful and results-oriented way to operate: to lead yourself, your life, your family, your community, your team, your organization, our world!
Before I end here, I’d like to ask you how you are doing with Steps 1 and 2 of our Self-Coaching Process, the first two P’s or Principles of Permission and Purpose. Are you allowing into your lives, your teams and/or organizations whatever you wish to create for yourself/yourselves? Are you intelligently (using not just the left brain or even the whole brain, but your Whole Mind or our Whole Mind Approach™) to remove whatever blocks there might be stopping you and/or your team/organization from getting the desired results? Are you clear about what your key driving purpose is? For you personally or/and for your team/organization? Are you or/and you all aligned with this purpose?
And, most of all, are you spending time going inward or at least quiet time with yourself, so that you can hear yourself speak to you, your innermost self, your wisest and most powerful self?! Good luck with your own journey. We’ll invite you to our public talks in January and perhaps then we can have a two-way coaching conversation with each other! Meanwhile, all comments and questioned are most welcomed; I love hearing from you!
