The beautiful and amazing athlete, actor and activist, Aimee Mullins.
IN THE PROCESS of preparing for this website revamp, which marks a new era both in my life and in running our coaching organization, I discussed my ideas with a variety of people who could help me express them through this medium.
And there were a couple of times when I mentioned the word, “greatness” as being the main theme, and they would advise me to steer clear from using it. The rationale is that it would frighten people off and I would lose potential business.
But instead of steering clear of it, because of a series of experiences, the word, “invincible” surfaced. And soon after, “The Path of The Invincible™” was born.
Inherent Greatness
You see, there really is an inherent greatness that lies within all of us, whether we are aware of it or not. Regardless of whether we consciously tap into and make maximum use of it or not. In spite of whether we even believe it’s there or not.
It would be such an absolute waste if we didn’t go within, draw it out and utilize it for our own needs and benefit, and for that of others around us. The way most of us go about drawing it out is by pushing ourselves to achieve, according to standards that the world has set us. So we go about chasing symbols of success that everyone recognizes, out of fear that we won’t win the race and do well otherwise.
But the point that I am belaboring in a myriad of ways on this site is that because of that intrinsic greatness within us, all we need to do is connect and align with it, and ultimately be that greatness. The point is also that we won’t perish. We have this enormous invincibility within us that will allow us to always thrive. An invincibility that will always live on, in some shape or form. An invincibility whose very makeup itself has the capacity to make you a master at manifesting what your heart and soul desire.
Courage To Step Forward
And I am inviting everyone who has the courage to step forward, regardless of having huge fears or none at all, to claim your own greatness for yourself and perhaps support those you are linked with at a personal or/and work level, to do the same.
It seems as if I have spent a lifetime getting ready for this moment, after years of apprenticeship, jumping through the self-created hoops to uncover and discover a wealth of information first hand, and only then to do the research to substantiate what I created along the way so that I can make sense of it to more people globally.
It is not enough that I personally know that it works. I have seen my programs and tools work time and again, over the last 20 years, with a huge variety of people of different ages and backgrounds from all over the world. And I had to continuously and intensively work on my own transformation so that I could constantly fine-tune both my programs and tools and offer a systematic approach that works for everyone, regardless of circumstances and background.
Treasure Within Us
The idea is that when we are ready, willing and open enough, we can very quickly and efficiently connect with the treasure that is within us, lying partially dormant, waiting to be uncovered, activated and optimized.
It is not even difficult to do so; provided that our minds do not get in the way and that we keep maintaining that connection. As Zig Ziglar said, “People were designed for accomplishment, engineered for success, and endowed with seeds of greatness.” Our job is to help you harvest those seeds and plant them in a way that allows you to flourish – naturally and spontaneously!
For many years, we have already been working with youngsters and adults, variously calling this invincibility their “Inner Hero”, “Inner Leader” or “Inner Coach”. And when they witness the magic and miracles, seeing themselves and their lives transform, they spread this positive tale of endless possibilities instead of relating tales of woe and failure.
There is no failure, unless we don’t know what we are made of and in what direction we are heading. Any seeming setbacks are only necessary parts of the apprenticeship that is preparing us for our greatness to emerge in full glory.
Power To Create
And now, I would like to share with you a 2009 TED talk presented by Aimee Mullins who was a record-breaker at the Paralympic Games in 1996. She also built a career as a model, actor and advocate for women, sports and the next generation of prosthetics. Aimee not only talks about her 12 pairs of prosthetic legs and the superpowers they give her (speed, beauty and an extra six inches of height) but also about how in the last decade, society has begun to shift this subject from being “a conversation about overcoming deficiency” to one about augmentation and potential instead.
The athlete, actor and activist said, “A prosthetic limb doesn’t represent the need to replace loss anymore. It can stand as a symbol that the wearer has the power to create whatever it is that they want to create in that space. So people that society once considered to be disabled can now become the architects of their own identities and indeed continue to change those identities by designing their bodies from a place of empowerment.”
Just when I was thinking what Aimee is saying applies to everyone of us, when we are dealing with our perceived shortcomings, she said, “I think that if we want to discover the full potential in our humanity, we need to celebrate those heartbreaking strengths and those glorious disabilities that we all have…It is our humanity, and all the potential within it, that makes us beautiful.”
Nike’s “Find Your Greatness” Campaign
Yes, indeed, we must celebrate our human greatness, warts and all. And this greatness or invincibility is not only in some but also in all of us. Even Nike’s fabulous 2012 “Find Your Greatness” campaign featured the message that “it is not just the championship athlete or record breaker that aspires to push their limits” but it sought to “inspire anyone who wants to achieve their own moment of greatness in sport.” It was launched just as the world focused on the best of the best” during the Olympics in London.
But when I refer to greatness and invincibility, I am not speaking merely of our talents but the spirit and soul within us that carry amazing attributes that make us the superheroes and leaders we can be, and that we all can claim for ourselves. And that we know exactly how to draw out of you, with your permission and collaboration, to any extent and at any pace you are ready for.
Here’s to our individual and collective greatness! And to the months and years ahead of creating a variety of tools, in addition to the programs and keys to mastery we already have, that will support you on your journey towards being your Greatest Self and making the greatest difference in your own life and the lives of others!!
